Recipe Development, Food Photography & Styling

Got a great food product or event and need some recipes? Or do you need a food photographer and stylist?  I’m your gal.

As Chief Eater of The Hungry Australian I’ve developed and photographed countless original recipes, some of which have been featured in various food media. Previously I was also the Australian & New Zealand Food Guide for About.com, producing up to eight recipes and food articles each month, and the Dining Down Under columnist at Honest Cooking.

Three of my recipes were included on the ABC’s Foodi App for Ipad alongside recipes by Maggie Beer, Simon Bryant, Matt Moran, Bill Granger and Poh Ling Yeow. I have also been commissioned to develop recipes for the Almond Board of Australia, Bertolli, Custard Apples Australia and Ocean Spray.

In April 2013 I won the Outstanding Use of Photography award by the Best Australian Blogs 2013 competition for my post Exploring Dubai: Spices, Diamonds, Gold, and Fruit & Veg.

In March 2013 I was one of only a dozen people to attend a two-day intensive food styling workshop in Sydney with visiting American food stylist, Denise Vivaldo. It was the first time such a comprehensive food styling workshop had been taught in Australia.

My food photography also appears regularly on curated food photograph sites, including Foodgawker, Tastespotting, Tasteologie and Photograzing.

I shoot with a Nikon D600 swopping between the Nikon 24-85mm f/2.8-4.0 lens and the Nikon 60mm f/2.8 macro lens for close ups. I edit my photos with Adobe Lightroom.

Previously, I have written about food, dining out, lifestyle, entertainment, the arts and music for About.com, Honest Cooking, The China Daily, That’s Shanghai, SH Weekly, Sumptuous, Gram, Arts Hub, Rad, Rip It Up, and dB. I was the music editor (1995) and then elected editor (1996) of On Dit, the Adelaide University students’ newspaper.

I love sharing blogging tips and suggestions and my own personal story. I have previously spoken at the Adelaide Beauty Conference — see video here — and also chaired the Opportunities from Blogging panel at the 3rd Australian Food Blogging Conference. In a former life I chaired a number of business events (e.g. Australian Trade Commission breakfast on emerging opportunities in China for Australian companies) as the executive director of the Australian Chamber of Commerce.
